The high-profile match between Pakistan and India during next year’s T20 World Cup will be played in New York, USA, according to a report by The Guardian.
USA will be co-hosting the tournament with West Indies as the International Cricket Council looks to tap in to America’s cricket-loving expat communities.
The full schedule of the event is set to be finalised today by the ICC and local organising committees.
The venue for the final has not been confirmed but it could take place in Barbados, which has hosted the finals of the 2007 50-over World Cup and the 2010 T20 tournament in the past.
Antigua, St Lucia, St Vincent, Guyana and Trinidad are also among the venues which will host matches during the mega event in the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, Central Broward Park in Florida, Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and Eisenhower Park on Long Island are likely to host the matches in USA.
England are defending champions after clinching the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, beating Pakistan in the final.
With an increased number of teams and a fresh format, the 2024 version of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is set to unveil new match-ups and significant moments in history.
The 2024 tournament will feature a 20-team format divided into two stages before the knockout phase, albeit different from the First Round/Super 12 arrangement seen in the 2021 and 2022 editions.
The top two teams from each of the four groups of five will progress to a Super Eights phase, where the remaining sides will be divided into two groups of four. The top two from each group will then advance to the semi-finals.
